An Early History of Mascoutah

In the early 1960s, attorney and life-long resident Herbert F. Lill worked to research, document, and preserve the beginnings of the city of Mascoutah. His efforts resulted in the publication of a small, red-bound book entitled, An Early History of Mascoutah - To and Including the Year 1850. The Mascoutah Historical Society has retyped, indexed, and reprinted this highly readable and informative volume.

The book is now available at the Mascoutah Heritage Museum at a cost of $15.
